Flights – Skyscanner
Skyscanner is a great app that gives you a comparative pricing among different airlines in a standard list view. However, the beauty of the app is when you switch to a horizontal mode that indicates dates for the lowest price possible. Essentially allowing you to beat the system. I’ve seen other apps try but none come close to the quality of Skyscanner. Get the app here.
Although I built this app, it’s one that so many people seem to find helpful, including me. SocialNote is an app that allows you to share your words on Instagram by creating an image of whatever you type on the screen. Similar to apps like Instaquote, however I stripped away all frills and went for minimalism. You have different options for text size, background color, font type, and a few more options depending on if you have the pro or free version. Currently there have been about 20,000 posts with the app. If you need a simple way to share your words on Instagram, try out the free version. Get the app here.
By now you may have heard about the genius idea that is Uber. Basically, an alternative service to using a taxi. The app allows you to connect with the network of drivers in your city to “request” a car. It works like this: specify your pickup location, request car type (uberX, black car, uber suv), see how far they are, and get notified when the driver has arrived. You pay through the app so there is no exchange between you and the driver. If you’ve ever wanted to skip out on paying a cabbie, you can practice with an Uber driver! PayPal is an important one for me since many of my clients are individuals. The app makes it easy to check on payments, create payments, withdraw cash to my bank accounts, and more. It’s definitely something you need if you’re sending or receiving money periodically.

Elevatr is a great app I came across last year. You can take a “napikin-based” idea and turn it into short-hand business plan within minutes. It takes the core information of a business plan and let’s you fill in the blanks: Problem/Solution, Market Capture, Competition, Challenges, Financials, etc. Two great things about this app:
- You can share your project with people using a web link
- *new – If you have a great idea, you can email your pitch to Elevatr for investment!
Really worth checking out if you have ideas that need to be ironed out. Get the app here – only available on iOS right now.
